About
Originally from High Bridge, New Jersey, Robert earned a BA in Classics and Philosophy at Rutgers University, followed by an MA in Classics at the University of Maryland. His interests are in Latin literature broadly, and gender, sexualities, appetites, consumption, and humor more specifically, particularly in the works of Seneca and Ovid. He recently contributed a chapter on Ovid's Erysichthon episode to Narratives of Time and Gender in Antiquity (Routledge, 2020). Robert's teaching career includes stints at Montgomery College, the University of Maryland (College Park), and the Alexandria City Public School system.
Robert is also enthusiastic about vintage guitar amplifiers, records, cats, and cycling. He has spent time as, inter alia, a tour guide in Washington, DC and a touring bass player.
