Doctoral Student, Ancient History
About
Marina completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, with a double major in Classics and History. She graduated summa cum laude in Classics, with an honors thesis on gender and slavery in Euripides’ Bacchae. For her master’s degree, she traveled to Helsinki, Finland for a master’s program that combined the strengths of five Nordic universities to study the early history of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Her master’s thesis examined the polemical usage of Manichaeism in fourth-century Christian disputes by comparing Manichaean accusations in the Priscillianist and Jovinianist controversies.
Marina’s research interests include religion, group dynamics, and marginalized identities in the late Roman Empire.
