The University of Michigan, Department of Chemistry invites submissions foran eye-catching and artistic design that will be installed on an interior wall at the north-facing entrance to the department (opposite the MichiganLeague).
This competition is open to the public. You need not be a member ofthe Chemistry Department or University to enter.
Design Brief
We are seeking a design that welcomes people to the Chemistry Departmentand celebrates both the diversity of chemical science that takes place in our Department and the diversity of people who contribute to the mission of our Department, recognizing that science is a human endeavor.
Your design may incorporate the phrase “Welcome to Chemistry”, but does not have to. You are free to interpret the brief in any way you wish – we are seeking creative, eye-catching and thought-provoking artwork! Similarly, you are free to produce your artwork in any medium you wish, including electronically.
Artwork Submission
The final size for the design will be approximately 8’ wide by 4’ high, however you do not have to submit your entry at full scale! You can submit artwork ata smaller scale (that can be enlarged later), or as a high resolution file e.g.TIFF, PDF, .Ai, .Id., Vector.
