Lab Fees

Lab Fees -- what are they for?

Lab fees are required for non-routine consumable costs incurred in laboratory courses. These fees cover the cost of specific materials, equipment, and services that are needed to operate the course.

Some specific items that are covered are:

  • Lab supplies: glassware, chemicals, protective equipment, and consumable items such as towels, soap, printer paper, disposable plastic devices, etc.
  • Lab equipment: stirring hot plates, pH meters & probes, UV lamps, lab jacks, heating mantles, vacuum pumps, & specialty equipment
  • Maintenance for lab-specific equipment. (This fee covers work other than basic building and infrastructure maintenance.)
