  • City: Grenoble
  • Term: Spring
  • Instruction in: French
  • Requirements: 2 semesters of
    college-level French

Capital of the French Alps, Grenoble offers a variety of cultural attractions like cinemas, concerts, theatres, and museums.

Take French 230 - a combination of French 231 and 232 - taught by a UM French instructor, and receive 8 credits to complete the LSA language requirement. This intensive language class will lay the groundwork for understanding Francophone customs by housing students with a host family. Students can also opt to continue their French studies with the Intermediate French Language Studies program, which begins just a few days after this program ends.

UM faculty and on-site staff organize activities to complement classroom learning. Previous groups have visited local schools to interact with French students, and taken a cooking class. Day trips are also offered to the group. Past day trips have taken students to Lyon, Chartreuse, Annecy, and Avignon.

This course is taught & led by UM Lecturer Eric Beuerlein.
