European Union Summer Program in Germany

On this 3-week, 3-credit Maize Away, students will take a course that will introduce the basic principles of the European Union, its institutions, and the position of member states. Students will learn how the EU deals with current challenges of migration, how policies are implemented, and the impact on member states.

Freiburg is a university town at the foot of the Black Forest and a convenient location from which to explore other cities important to the European Union. Students will participate in excursions including a day trip to EU Parliament in Strasbourg and an overnight trip to Luxembourg to visit institutions such as the Court of Justice of the EU, the European Investment Bank, and the Publications Office of the EU.
