  • Instruction in: Spanish
  • Requirements: At least two 279-399-level Spanish courses (or the RC equivalents)

Alicante is a port city on Spain’s southeastern Costa Blanca, and the capital of the Alicante province. Experience its old town, Barrio de la Santa Cruz, with its narrow streets, colored houses, and nightlife scene. The sweeping views of the Mediterranean coast are a sight to behold! On this new spring program, students will earn 400-level and 300-level Spanish credits while experiencing local Spanish life. One course will be taught by a U-M Spanish professor and another by a local professor at the University of Alicante.

This program is taught and led by U-M Professor Gustavo Verdesio, who will teach a course titled, “First Images of America: The Early Chroniclers.” The local course topic is Crossroads: Spain and Immigration.
