During this 15-week semester, 16-credit program, students are based in Pohara by Golden Bay on the South Island of Aotearoa (New Zealand) as team members of the vibrant, sustainable EcoQuest learning community. Through an exciting mix of challenging academic courses, lectures, workshops, case studies, and hands-on experiential learning, students engage with a variety of community agribusinesses throughout the South Island.
In addition, students are placed at local farms/agribusinesses for 20 working days where they will gain practical skills, knowledge and experience while increasing competency and making connections in sustainable farm and food systems related work. To experience and understand the diversity of agricultural landscapes and microclimates, students will embark on extended field trips to several places in the Nelson/Tasman region, Te Tau lhu Marlborough and Waitaha Canterbury.
