Study in Khon Kaen in northeastern Thailand and examine the complexities surrounding environmental, development, and globalization issues. Explore social justice at a grassroots level and complete a final project based on field research. Students take the following 4 courses: Thai Language, The Human Perspective on Development and the Environment; Directed Research Field Study/Practicum, Social Research Methods, Grassroots Journalism or Intercultural Communication and Leadership. Students must also take one elective. This program is excellent for students hoping to join the Peace Corps or other community-based volunteer programs. It also provides a number of interactive activities and excursions including a number of community stays and site visits in the region, including Laos.
