Chinese Studies in Shanghai (SUSPENDED)

Students have the opportunity to improve their Chinese and have an international experience in Shanghai. The program center is located on the Donghua University campus. Students will live with local roommates. Each session, the program offers outings and activities that provide opportunities to explore Shanghai and learn more about Chinese culture.

Semester: This 16-week program offers students various areas of coursework in English. Students will take an intensive 6-credit Chinese language course, enroll in an optional 3-credit internship/placement and seminar, and choose at least two 3-credit electives such as Shanghai: Key to Modern China? And Globalization and the Chinese City. Students may choose a third elective if they opt out of the internship. Internship locations include Timeout Shanghai, Han Kun Law Offices and Tongji Biomimetic Design Lab, for example.

Summer: During the 9-week program students can enroll in an optional 2-credit internship/placement and seminar, one 3-credit Chinese language course, and one 3-credit elective class such as Politics and Governance or The Chinese Consumer: Remaking the World Economy. Students may choose a second elective if they opt out of the internship. Internship locations include Habitat for Humanity, The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Ernst & Young, to name a few.
