Students can complete their third- and fourth-semester LSA language requirements in Costa Rica with Spanish 230 in San José, taught by a U-M Spanish Instructor. Two semesters and 8 credits of coursework are condensed into 6 weeks. Participate in intensive Spanish language lessons and enjoy unique field trips to areas of cultural and natural significance. The excursions on this program take advantage of the beautiful natural resources around San José and will allow students to continue speaking Spanish outside the classroom. Explore Irazú Volcano National Park, learn from local farmers on a fair trade coffee cooperative, and take a tour of San José city. The students’ host families will be an integral part of their experience and will help them absorb culture and language during the time they spend with them over breakfast each day and on evenings and weekends. Spanish 230 is also offered in Argentina and Spain!
