Students learn about and explore the soaring peaks, massive glaciers, and narrow fjords of Patagonia. Torres del Paine National Park serves as the classroom for research and field work. Students embark on expeditions to the southernmost tip of South America and the volcanic lakes region of northern Patagonia to study climate change impacts, diverse ecosystems, and conservation in one of the world’s most iconic regions. Courses include Language, Culture, and Society of Chile; Political and Social Dimensions of Conservation; Earth Systems and Climate Science; Patagonian Ecology, and Directed Research. Students stay in dormitory-style accommodation at the program center during this 15-week, 18-credit program.
