- Term: Fall, Winter
- Instruction in: French
- Requirements: Students must be a Junior or Senior by program start date. Minimum 4 semesters college-level French required.
- Students interested in: Afroamerican and African Studies; French, International Studies, Social Theory and Practice
- Internships Available!
Study international development through classes, field trips, and an extended internship or research project with a non-profit organization, linking experience with theory and critical analysis. Spend 7 weeks in Dakar engaged in coursework, followed by 6 weeks in a rural area working as an intern or conducting a research project with a local grassroots organization. Homestays are an integral component of the program. Nearly all families have hosted students before, and all have been chosen for their genuine interest in sharing Senegalese life with students. Most students live with two host families—one in Dakar during the classroom phase and a second during the internship/research phase. Students can take up to 16 credits for fall or winter semester.
