I am a Muslim Pakistani student at the University of Michigan. While abroad, one thing I was worried about was not seeing a lot of other Muslims or South Asians, especially during the month of Ramadan. It was going to be hard to not be with my family during such a special month and I was worried how it was going to feel in London in one of my favorite months of the year.
However, London blew away all my expectations. I realized very quickly that it was one of the most diverse cities I have ever been to. There were so many different types of people and it was so accepting of various identities. I fell in love with the city quickly. I realized that there was a huge Muslim population and Pakistani population there. The city was so accommodating when it came to halal restaurants and foods too, there was practically one on every street! I was amazed! The city was so accepting and really went out of its way to accommodate its Muslim population.
