Global Intercultural Experience for Undergraduates (GIEU)

GIEUs (Global Intercultural Experience for Undergraduates) are project-based service-learning programs. Earn a total of 3 credits for taking a semester-long pre-departure course on intercultural learning, conducting fieldwork abroad for 3–4 weeks during spring or summer, and completing a community engagement project in fall term with your cohort. If you are a Pell Grant recipient, check with your advisor to see if you can receive a GIEU Pell Scholarship to cover program fees. All LSA students with demonstrated financial need—including Pell Grant recipients—are eligible for additional funding through the LSA Scholarship Office’s LSA Study Abroad Scholarship.
