If one was to design a social movement and select the tactics they would employ to be the most effective (i.e., the most likely to yield the desired outcome), what would be selected? Would one go for a large or small organization in terms of size, would one use non-violent or violent tactics, would the organization created be centralized or decentralized? This course is designed to assist the student with answering these questions (among others) through a detailed evaluation of existing literature as well as systematic evaluation of actual social movements. There is no social, political and/or economic change without effective movements. There are no effective movements without examination.
