Laboratory course to be elected concurrently with EARTH 222/ENVIRON 232. This companion laboratory course provides hands-on experience with the concepts covered in lecture. We learn about the cycling of elements and the distribution of life in the ocean, the processes that drive ocean circulation, and the dynamic nature of the coasts. On a more practical note, we learn to navigate by the stars and how to find the best waves for surfing.
Course Requirements:
Grades are based on weekly labs and one final presentation (through Canvas). Labs are open for a week, and students need to turn in labs at the end of the week. Attendance is required (pending medical issues). No exam.
Intended Audience:
Students who register for EARTH 223/ENVIRON 233 must also be enrolled in EARTH 222/ENVIRON 232.
