Modern Western Armenian is an Indo-European language currently spoken by the Armenian diaspora throughout the globe. It has its own alphabet, which was invented in the fifth century CE, and a diverse body of literature.
In this dynamic introduction to Western Armenian, students will learn the alphabet and make significant progress to understanding the basics of Armenian grammar. A variety of language-learning games and classroom speaking activities will supplement our textbook (A Textbook of Modern Western Armenian). Students will also be exposed to a variety of authentic learning contexts, such as by listening to music videos and short skits.
At the end of this level, students will be able to read and write in Armenian, understand the basic points of grammar, and engage in short conversations with their peers.
