BLI Professorship Inaugural Lecture

Thursday, September 14, 2017

BLI Director Jason Owen-Smith delivered the Barger Leadership Inaugural Professorship Lecture titled "Research Universities and Our Common Future: Creative Capabilities at Scale." He spoke about the role of research universities and discussed how they can find new ways to address an uncertain future by developing creative capabilities in the public interest.

Professor Owen-Smith is also a Professor of Sociology, the Executive Director of the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS), and a Research Professor in the Institute for Social Research (ISR) Survey Research Center (SRC). Following the lecture, we enjoyed a dinner reception with the entire BLI community.

"The inaugural Professorship Lecture was surprising and interesting. I had no idea what to expect from the talk, but Professor Owen-Smith gave his talk in a fascinating, storytelling format." - Ethan Hopper, BLI Program Assistant
