Hometown: Sault Ste. Marie, MI

Major/Track: Biophysics - Structr. Biology

Campus Organizations: Biophysics Club, Society of Physics Students, M-HEAL, Harvest Mission Community Church

What inspired you to major in Biophysics? I became particularly interested in biology during high school. From that, I also gleaned an interest in the physical properties of biological systems. When I saw the possibility to major in a field working to juxtapose the two, I was hooked.

Have you particpated in an intership or research experience? Certainly! Biophysics is fantastic at encouraging you to do research. I am currently studying the cholera-causing bacteria species Vibrio cholerae in the Biteen Lab.

What class have you most enjoyed? Biophysics 421 with Dr. Koutmos

What advice would you give to students considering a major in Biophysics at the University of Michigan? Work hard, have fun, and check out the club. (Contact me for info!) Biophysics is a challenging major, but well worth it, as by the end of the major, your options for future study or employment are near limitless.

What do you hope to do after graduating from Michigan? Go on to graduate school for a PhD in Biophysics, and then onto work in Biodefense.

What is your favorite place on campus? Aamani's for Ann Arbor (best bbq in town, but closing soon!!)
For campus, my lab. It may sound nerdy or cliche, but my lab has helped me and encouraged me every step of the way through school.

What else do you want us to know? I have one of the high scores on Adams Family Pinball at Pinball Pete's.
