Thursday, May 28, the University of Michigan Board of Regents approved recommendations for new faculty appointments, along with promotions for regular associate and full professor positions. One of these promotions went to Biophysics core faculty member, Sarah Veatch. Sara was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in Biophysics. With this promotion, Veatch set a milestone for the department, as she is the first faculty member in Biophysics to be promoted from Assistant to Associate.

“Sarah is clearly well deserving and truly represents the future of Biophysics at Michigan,” said Charlie Brooks, Director of Biophysics, and Professor of Chemistry and Biophysics.

Brooks was presented with an honor himself, as he was named a Distinguished University Professor by the Board of Regents, also on May 18.

Several Biophysics affiliated faculty also received promotions, including:

· Julie Biteen, Associate Professor of Chemistry with tenure, and Associate Professor of Biophysics without tenure

· Ajit P. Joglekar, Associate Professor of Biophysics without tenure

· Jennifer P. Ogilvie, Professor of Physics with tenure, and Professor of Biophysics, without tenure

· Daniel Southworth, Associate Professor of Biophysics without tenure

Congratulations to Sarah Veatch and all of the above, from the Biophysics Administrative Team!
