Dr. Qiong Yang will be joining us in January 2014 as an Assistant Professor of Biophysics!

Qiong is currently an HHMI fellow at Stanford University and her goal is to develop a comprehensive understanding of how complex organisms overcome and sometimes exploit stochasticity. To this end, she focuses on both the circuits that underlie individual cellular behaviors as well as mechanisms for cells to communicate with each other, and how these together produce interesting collective behaviors with a remarkable spatiotemporal accuracy. Specifically, she will study how individual cells interact to produce collective behaviors with spatiotemporal accuracy during embryo development in xenopus and zebrafish model systems.

Please join us in welcoming Qiong to Michigan!
