Department of Astronomy faculty Joel Bregman, Jon Miller, and Lia Coralles are thrilled that a project they are working on, the NASA Explorer mission Arcus, was selected for a concept study, with a potential launch in 2023.  Arcus will use X-ray spectroscopy to reveal the missing matter in the universe, to explore violent winds from black holes, and to study the properties of stellar coronae and accretion onto young stars.
