A recap of Fall Preview Weekend 2018
The Astronomy Department at the University of Michigan recently hosted 15 prospective students who expressed interest in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Ph.D. program and applied for preview weekend. The Preview Weekend took place on Friday and Saturday and was a chance for prospective students to get a feel for the Ann Arbor campus and community, as well as learn about the opportunities and resources available through the Astronomy Department.
Over the course of two days, the students had many opportunities to interact with and ask questions of the department faculty and current Ph.D. candidates, as well as attend a Graduate Admissions Panel and Research Symposium on Friday. On Saturday, the students got together with preview weekend attendees of the Earth & Environmental Sciences department at the University for an official campus walking tour, as well as a presentation on Rackham resources and student communities.
The Astronomy Department at the University of Michigan would like to thank all of the faculty, students, and staff who attended Fall Preview Weekend to help us welcome our prospective graduate students. The department would also like to thank the Preview Weekend attendees for traveling across the country to spend a few days in Ann Arbor with us!
The Astronomy Department is hoping to host Preview Weekend again in 2019. If you’re interested in attending, check back with us this summer for application information.
