“My, how things have changed! Working in science and engineering since the 1980’s. (And how we can all be part of change in the future).”

I’ll talk about my experience training as an engineer in the 1980’s and then continuing on to graduate school. My positions as faculty, researcher, and technical manager have let me work with many different groups of people. As someone naturally curious about human dynamics, and a woman in fields without many other women, I have some observations and reflections to share.

I remain optimistic about the changes I have seen over time, and I will also discuss strategies that all of us, men and women, young and old, can use to continue to create change. We are all responsible to create workplaces and a world that makes room for everyone to contribute. I’ll draw on Joanne Lipman’s book “That’s What She Said” for these ideas.
