Doctoral Candidate in Asian Languages and Cultures
About
After reading and being fascinated by some of the best East Asian literary works, primarily modernist literature, I was converted to the field of East Asian literary studies. Perhaps the most rewarding part of being a student of literature is to constantly discover and encounter great literary works and to share the “Eureka!” moments with others by writing and teaching. My research interest lies in the transformation of literary and cultural institutions in China and Japan in the mid-twentieth century. UM has well-established programs of Chinese and Japanese literature, and the renowned anthropology and sociology programs will also facilitate my research from an inter-disciplinary perspective.
