Abstract: The multipetawatt laser ZEUS will be a new NSF midscale facility based at the University of Michigan. It is under construction and due to be completed in 2023. Once constructed, it will be the most powerful laser pulse in the US. In this talk I will describe the physics motivation for ZEUS and the experiments it will enable.
