About Us

The Asian/Pacific Islander American Studies Program (A/PIA) is staffed by a group of dedicated, accomplished faculty whose instruction and research put issues relevant to Asian American and Pacific Islander American communities in context. Through its Academic Minor in A/PIA Studies as well as timely courses on literary and cultural studies, media representation, cultural performance, and the Civil Rights movement, A/PIA Studies gives all students access to these vital histories and flourishing fields of study.

In addition to providing curricular opportunities for many students each year, A/PIA Studies invites speakers from across the country to present current research on topics that affect Asian and Pacific Islander American communities. A/PIA Studies faculty collaborate regularly with the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs, the National Center for Institutional Diversity, and United Asian American Organizations to organize events that promote dialogue across multiple campus communities.
