Dr. Alyssa Paredes, LSA Collegiate Fellow, was awarded the 2021 Bonnie J. McCay Junior Scholar Award from the Anthropology and Environment Society, a section of the AAA. In honor of McCay’s significant contributions to environmental anthropology, human ecology, marine affairs, and theories of governance, the award recognizes exemplary scholarship published in a refereed journal article of the past two calendrical years. Dr. Paredes received the award for "Experimental Science for the ‘Bananapocalypse’: Counter Politics in the Plantationocene," which was released for early online view (Open Access) in the journal Ethnos in 2021.
