Applicant Checklist

APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 1st

• The APPLICANT is responsible for the completed application.

• ALL application materials should be submitted online.

• ALL letters of recommendation should be submitted through our online application system. Letters of recommendation should not be mailed to Rackham.

• Official transcripts should be submitted online to Rackham. Online submissions are preferred.

GRE: The GRE is not required for any subfields. Rackham Graduate School has ended the use of the GRE general test in its Ph.D. admissions, beginning with the 2022–2023 admissions cycle. 

TOEFL: Institution code 1839, Department code 81. (Even if the department code cannot be entered, entering the institution code will ensure receipt of your transcripts by Rackham.)

IELTS: Official IELTS scores are sent electronically to the Rackham Graduate School.

* It is not necessary to mail these materials. They should be uploaded with your online application.
† Scan the front and back of your transcripts and upload it with your online application. Official transcripts, directly from every institution where you have received a Bachelor’s degree or higher, must be provided to Rackham after you have been recommended for admission. You will be asked to self report your GPA on the application. Although official transcripts are strongly preferred, unofficial transcripts can be uploaded with your application. If you do not submit a final official transcript with your grad application, you will be required to submit it to Rackham Graduate School if you are recommended for admission.

International applicants: If you are an international student, please upload English translations as well.
