Certificate

IPAH offers a Graduate Certificate in Greek and Roman history for students enrolled in other graduate degree programs at the University of Michigan. The Handbook describes the Program in more detail.

This Certificate provides students with an introduction to the current historical methodologies and issues of ancient history and an opportunity to enrich their analytical skills in research courses on topics from ancient history. Graduate students in fields related to Greek and Roman history might consider earning the Certificate.

The Certificate is an attractive additional credential that will enhance the research and professional futures of students in Classical Studies who are primarily interested in literary studies, papyrology, or ancient philosophy, students in the History department who are primarily interested in medieval or Byzantine history, students in Middle East Studies who are working on early Christianity, Judaism, or early Islamic studies, and students in the Program in Classical Art and Archaeology (IPCAA).
