Please join us in congratulating AMAS minor and undergraduate assistant Silan Fadlallah for being honored as Student of the Year! In addition to her work with AMAS she is also the student coordinator for the Islamophobia Working Group and helped to found UM's first chapter of is the first and only Arab sorority in the United States, Empowered Arab Sisterhood/ Epsilon Alpha Sigma sorority among her other notable forms of activism. We think this quote by Silan's sums up why she deserves such an honor:

“Equitable opportunities and equitable treatment for people, no matter their social identity,” LSA junior Silan Fadlallah said. “I feel like oftentimes people say ‘equality,’ but you need to understand a person’s background, and where they’re coming from, and some things they have had a disadvantage of, like, growing up — and realizing that they may need more than certain students....Whatever I do, I just want to help people, I just want to make people’s lives better,” Fadlallah said. ”

الف مبروك!، يا سيلان
