During the summer term, scholars will have the opportunity to take credit-bearing college-level courses. All CSP Summer scholars will register for CSP 100 and one additional course based on the recommendation of their Academic Advisor. 

CSP 100 - First Year Seminar

Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays: 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Learn and apply meta-cognitive principles to the planning of your own academic, professional, and personal goals. Seminar topics include but are not limited to: 

  • Developing critical thinking skills
  • Basic principles of formal argumentation 
  • Time management
  • Developing academic self-efficacy, a growth mindset, sense of belonging, and motivation
  • Improving and/or developing test-taking skills

Scholars will participate in the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI) SuccessConnects Program throughout the summer term. SuccessConnects is focused on holistic support through success coaching that seeks to help scholars develop connections to resources across campus with consideration of all their needs (academic, social, and personal) through intentional goal setting and community building. Through small group activities and guided discussions, this whorshop will help scholars place a strong emphasis on the importance of relationships, resources, and information seeking. 

CSP Summer scholars will participate in several activities throughout the summer.

Programs include:

  • Dinner with the CSP Director
  • Movie Night
  • Wellness Expo
  • Challege Program
  • Campus Connections

and a plethora of other activities that assist scholars in learning more about the resources and opportunities available to them on U-M's campus and the Ann Arbor community.
