This year's MLK Symposium theme, “Costs of Activism”, reflects the challenges of activism, broadly defined. Standing up against racism, classism, sexism, ableism, and other forms of bias, as well as taking action to support the voices of others, can entail both positive and negative challenges. Reflecting on these stories can be empowering and help build community.

We invite members of the University community to share their brief (2-4 minute) stories through written or spoken word, performance pieces, poems, art, music, or song. We encourage you to connect your story to the theme of “Costs of Activism.” This is an opportunity to tell your story among supportive listeners because (y)our stories matter! This event will be held on MLK Day (Jan. 20) from 1-2:30pm at the Newnan LSA Academic Advisor Center in 1255 Angell Hall.
