Who We Are and What We Do

We have many different advisors both at Newnan and across the College.  Here are some of the advisors you may want to talk with while you are here at the University of Michigan.

Newnan general advising

Newnan general academic advisors will talk through your plans for your college career, discuss the future, and help you explore the opportunities and resources available to you.

Academic Standards Board advising

Board advisors guide you when you encounter (or anticipate) academic difficulty for any reason and will work with you if you require special programmatic assistance during your time in LSA.

Pre-health advising

Pre-health advisors will help you develop and then continuously evaluate an individual program--both academic and co-curricular--to meet your future personal and career goals in the health professions.

Pre-law advising

Pre-law advisors will work with you as you pursue your goal of attending law school. We encourage students to pursue a challenging undergraduate program that fosters critical thinking, logical reasoning, and effective writing.

Bachelor in General Studies (B.G.S.) advising

If you are a student with interdisciplinary or alternate academic interests, BGS advisors can help you develop an individually designed degree program independent of departmental requirements.

Comprehensive Studies Program (CSP), Honors Program, and Residential College (RC) advising

If you are part of CSP, Honors, or the RC, these departments have individual advising offices that can be reached at:

Departmental (Major and Minor) advising

To learn more about the various majors and minors offered by a specific department, as well as the opportunities departments offer to their students, you should meet with an advisor in your department of interest. Once you declare a major or minor, you can continue to work with both your Newnan general advisor, as well as your departmental advisor.

Advisors at Newnan from other schools and colleges

During the school year, Newnan has academic advisors from various other Schools and Colleges from across campus who hold weekly office hours in our Advising Center. This is particularly helpful for students who may be considering a cross-campus transfer to another School or College. Please contact the Newnan Advising Center  for a detailed schedule.
