Sara Awartani just won the 2022 Virginia Sánchez Koroll Dissertation Award presented by the Puerto Rican Studies Association (PRSA) on October 15, 2022.
The title of Sara's dissertation is "Solidarities of Liberation, Visions of Empire: Puerto Rico, Palestine, and the U.S. Imperial Project, 1967-1999." She wrote it at George Washington University under the supervision of Thomas Guglielmo and Melani McAlister and deposited it on August 31, 2020. Her dissertation examines the centrality of the “Palestine problem” and Puerto Rico’s “status question” to U.S. social movement networks and U.S. statecraft in the latter three decades of the twentieth century.
