Estevan Rael-Gálvez's career is inspiring. He is the model of an individual who used his academic training far from the classroom. Since completing his Ph.D. from Michigan in 2002, Rael-Gálvez has held an assortment of critically important positions in public history. He started as the official State Historian for New Mexico. Later he became the Executive Director of the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Today, he serves as the Vice President of Historic Sites for the National Trust for Historical Preservation. His experience gives a window into a wide range of institutions and career paths in the public sector.
