The Fish Division is pleased to host Pedro Amorim, a Brazilian Ph.D. student from the Museu Nacional in the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), at the Varsity Drive research facility from 28 March to 1 April 2016.  The focus of Pedro’s research is the phylogenetic relationships of the cyprinodontiform  family Anablepidae (the so-called four-eyed fishes), using morphological and molecular data. He will be examining osteological (cleared and stained) and alcohol-preserved specimens from the extensive cyprinodontiform collections of the Fish Division and digitally imaging specimens for external morphology and morphometric analyses.  Pedro characterized his visit to the UMMZ as very useful and productive.
