The public may photograph or videotape in any of the galleries in the Exhibit Museum with hand-held, self-contained equipment.
Photographers may not interfere with or block access to exhibits being used by tour groups and docents.
Art and photography classes must schedule a formal appointment at least two weeks in advance. All intended use of the image(s) must be made known at that time and must be approved. Contact Dan Erickson (734-647-1382, dane@umich.edu)
The Museum reserves the right to refuse requests for photographic appointments and their uses for publication.
For non-University professional photographers, film makers, videographers, etc., the following policies apply:

Scheduling: Non-hand-held equipment sessions are best scheduled between 3-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Fees: A non-refundable fee of $150 per hour will be billed (one hour minimum)
for photography within the galleries. Visa, Mastercard, and U.S. checks are accepted. Fees apply to one-time use only. A staff member will accompany the photographer at all times to open exhibit cases if necessary and to handle any objects. Recognized news agencies requiring images to publicize the Museum or for public service are exempt from fees, as long as credit to the Museum is given.
Equipment: Photographer is responsible for bringing all necessary equipment, including power sources. Ladders, lamps, electrical outlets, extension cords, etc., will not be available. The staff person cannot assist with the setting up or taking down of equipment.
Credit: The University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History must be credited in all uses of photographic and video images.
Museum Review: Proofs must be reviewed prior to actual use by Dan Erickson.
