FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is the deadline for applications for 2010-2011?
A: The deadline is 5 pm on January 8, 2010.
Q: I am doing fieldwork in a remote area. May I email you one copy of my application?
A: Yes. We will accept your application as a pdf or MS-Word file directed to HUM-GSAP1011@umich.edu.
Q: Can I apply for a Graduate Student Fellowship if I expect to be a candidate by the beginning of the fellowship in fall?
A: No. You must have achieved candidacy status by the application deadline in January.
Q: I recently became a candidate and my candidacy status is not reflected on my transcript.
A: In addition to official transcripts, please submit a letter from your unit attesting to your candidacy status.
Q: How do you want to receive letters of support?
A: Be sure to sign the "Graduate Student Fellowship Recommendation Form" and give it to those writing letters on your behalf to sign, too. One copy of each letter, accompanied by that form, should come directly to the Institute via email attachment to HUM-GSAP1011@umich.edu or in campus or U.S. mail.
Q: How should my application materials be collated?
A: Collate your documents in the following order, whether you submit it as a pdf file or as a single-sided hard copy (no staples, please):
