In 2012 North Carolina became the first US state to pay compensation to survivors of its
state eugenics program. The film follows the journey of survivors, legislators and journalists
who insisted that North Carolina confront its role in the forced sterilization of thousands of
Americans judged "unfit" for reproduction.
