In January 2016, Anne Byerlein assumed her current role of Yum! Senior Executive Advisor assisting its China business spin off to Yum! China Holdings, Inc(NYSE:TBD).
Prior to this role, Anne served as Chief People Officer for fifteen years at Yum! Brands, Inc., (NYSE:YUM) the world’s largest restaurant company in terms of system units with more than 43,000 restaurants in over 130 countries and territories. Yum! Brands, with 1.5 million employees and franchise associates worldwide, is the parent company to KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.
In 2015, Yum! Brands generated $13 billion in total revenues, including company sales and franchise fees. In 2015, Byerlein was named as a Top 10 Chief Human Resources Officer by Forbes.com.
Byerlein was responsible for global Human Resources, which included field and Restaurant Support Center recruiting, talent management, compensation, benefits, training, organizational/people/leadership development and executive succession planning. Also falling under her umbrella was employee relations and engagement, diversity and inclusion, safety, security, facilities and aviation for all Yum! divisions. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Yum! Brands Foundation.
Prior to assuming her Chief People Officer role in 2002, Byerlein was Chief People Officer for KFC and Vice President of Human Resources for Yum!, roles she held concurrent with one another. Previously, she was Vice President of Corporate Human Resources for PepsiCo, a position she held prior to the creation of Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc., (later changed to Yum! Brands, Inc.) in 1997. Over a seven year period, from 1988 to 1996, Byerlein held a variety of human resources positions within the restaurant division of PepsiCo.
Before joining PepsiCo, Byerlein worked with Motorola, Inc., Trammel Crow Company and Burroughs Corporation.
