As one of the first departments in the country to be devoted entirely to the study of politics, we are known for our outstanding teaching, trailblazing scholarship, and deep commitment to exploration and research. We prepare students for active citizenship, diverse careers, and advanced study in the social sciences.

For over 100 years, the department has helped students gain adaptable skills to solve problems in today's ever-changing fields, understand how public affairs are conducted, and have more practical knowledge of how citizens, elected representatives, judges, and administrators approach the decisions they are called to make.

As an alumni, you can support LSA students through the LSA Opportunity Hub in several ways. Whether you engage online, on campus, or on-site at the Hub's home for an hour or an afternoon, students jump at the chance to hear from alums, and your words will resonate with them. The Hub invites you to share that wisdom with the next generation of Wolverines.
