Professor Jeremy Semrau is among the five faculty members who were honored with a Arthur F. Thurnau professorship. This professorship is awarded to faculty for their outstanding contributions to undergraduate education. 

Professor Semrau is a professor of civil and environmental engineering (College of Engineering), professor of natural resources and environment (School of Natural Resources and Environment), and professor of environment, (LSA). He is the winner of numerous teaching awards, and designs active learning tasks that require students to address real-world, challenging problems.
