Marshall M. Weinberg Endowment for Philosophy

The Marshall M. Weinberg Endowment for Philosophy is an unrestricted fund, which has been applied to summer fellowships and dissertation fellowships for outstanding graduate students at main junctures in their studies. They thus help reduce time to degree, a critical goal of the Department and the Rackham School of Graduate Studies, and one that the Mellon Foundation has emphasized nationally for the humanities. The establishment of the endowment served as a catalyst for securing enhanced institutional funding in this area. Approximately forty summer fellowships and five dissertation fellowships have been awarded to date. Recipients often meet with Mr. Weinberg in Ann Arbor or on the east coast.
