Mon, 11/30 OS Opportunity Scholarship: Organizational Studies is fortunate to be able to offer the OS Opportunity Scholarship for the upcoming Winter 2010 term. The purpose of the OS Opportunity Scholarship is to support Organizational Studies students who have substantial financial need due to unforeseen circumstances. Even if you have received this award in the past you are still eligible to receive it again, but you must re-apply each semester. Mon, 11/30 Peer Mentor Applications for AY 2010-2011: We are now beginning our application cycle for peer mentor positions for 2010-11. If you are a junior who is interested in working as a peer mentor during your senior year, but you plan to go abroad this winter term, please submit an application by November 30. Those juniors remaining on campus will have an opportunity to apply in January. For more details on the peer mentor position, please check out the OS website. Concentrators: OS materials to assist with registration are available on the website (curriculum section) and in the student lounge: Mon, 12/21 AAU Chinese Scholarship Program The Association of American Universities (AAU) Chinese scholarship program will offer up to 14 full scholarships to students at AAU universities to study in China. Scholarships will be awarded competitively to graduating undergraduate seniors for one or more years of study at a Chinese university at the master's or doctoral level. Scholarships are available for up to two years of master's study, and up to three years of doctoral study for students with a master's degree or equivalent. Students applying for the scholarships must be available to begin their scholarship programs in the fall of 2010. Mon, 11/23 6:15 pm "Our Economy Now" discusses pertinent topics in today's economy. This year, the auto and healthcare industries were selected as the topics for discussion. The guest speakers will be Adriana Karaboutis, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain Information Officer at General Motors, and Jim Slubowski, CIO & VP of Enterprise Operations at Priority Health. They will discuss the current economic state of their respective industry as well as the outlook for the future. This event is sponsored by Phi Chi Theta, a professional business and economics fraternity. 1/22 2010 Google Online Marketing Challenge: OS alumus Adam Compain ('08) invites OS students to participate in the 2010 Google Online Marketing Challenge. The Google Online Marketing Challenge is a global student competition open to any higher education institution anywhere in the world. Student teams receive $200.00 of free online advertising with Google AdWords and then work with local businesses to devise effective online marketing campaigns. Teams outline a strategy, run a campaign, assess their results and provide the business with recommendations to further develop their online marketing. Teams submit their reports and are judged by a panel of independent academics from all over the world. Henderson House Room Availability for Winter 2010 and Fall 2010: Henderson House residents live in beautiful surroundings with fantastic amenities (grand piano, free cable, great housemates, furnished rooms, computer lab) and the room and board plan is one of the most inexpensive housing options in Ann Arbor (the current rate for a double room is $651 room/board per month). In exchange for the low room/and board, each resident is expected to contribute 5 hours a week towards the house (which can include a wide variety of tasks from preparing the community meals to vacuuming or other house chores) Henderson House can be a great option for students who may be graduating in December, who may be transferring to the University in January, or who may be studying abroad for one of the semesters in the academic year.
