LSA Summer Mentorship Program

Brought to you by the Dean's Young Alumni Council (DYAC), the LSA Summer Mentorship Program is open to any LSA student working or interning in the summer of 2017. Young alumni, hailing from across the country and working in various industries, serve as mentors to you and your peers as you navigate the workplace, expand your network, and develop tangible skills during your summer internship. U-M Biological Station

Spend your summer taking field courses in northern Michigan! The Biological Station is embarking on two new initiatives this summer to offer students the chance to study nationally-relevant and important ecological issues. They will be hosting a “Pollinators” theme semester and several field courses will investigate the possible effects of dam removal.

Juhi Patel | Senior | Political Science and Biopsychology, Cognition, & Neuroscience

“My favorite thing about being placed in the civil rights department at the USDA is that someone finally found a way to combine both of my majors! One of my supervisors told me that she wanted to hire me because of my background in Political Science and BCN... When I got to the office, I was initially told to help out with with a presentation on a game changer. They wanted to implement the New IQ: Diversity and Inclusiveness into the workplace at USDA. My role involved incorporating neuroscience evidence to the importance of this initiative. Everyone knows and always hears about incorporating diversity in the workplace, but by providing this scientific evidence, I was supposed to give them a new way of looking at things.” Read more.
