Perspectives from a Woman in Science, Prof. Kathryn Johnston, Columbia University 9:15 coffee, 9:30 presentation

Kathryn Johnston is a Professor and Chair of Astronomy at Columbia University. She will talk about her own experiences as a woman in science in the context of social-science research on the subject. Her short presentation will be followed by a discussion.

Professor Johnston received her Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics from UC-Santa Cruz. She was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, and then an assistant professor at Wesleyan University, where she was a recipient of an NSF CAREER Award. She joined the Columbia faculty in 2006.
