what's in bloom
Summer is a great time to visit the spectacular Gateway Garden of New World Plants at the Botanical Gardens. The ornamental plants in this garden are originally native to the Americas. Check out the bloom calendar.
Looking for a central location to hold a group meeting? How about catching up on some of your reading at a riverside bench? We have some of the University's best study spots.

Begin your exploration at the Visitor Center. Here you'll find restrooms, drinking fountains, a gift shop, our library, classrooms, an auditorium, and the entrance to the Conservatory. Friendly staff is at the desk in the main lobby at the front of the building during posted business hours.

Close to the main building are many special display gardens featured in the links below. We're actively building several new gardens here - come and see. Our natural areas are featured along several trails.

All the trails at the Gardens form loops back towards the Visitor Center. The east trail entrance is at the downhill end of the front sidewalk. The west trail entrance is just beyond the picnic tables in the Norman Memorial Grove near the west parking lot. The west entrance is prominently marked as an entrance to the Sue Riechert Discovery Trail.

Enjoy your explorations!

The Gardens' displays, natural areas, Conservatory, trails and significant buildings invite your exploration and use. These exhibits are intimately interwoven - physically, conceptually, and aesthetically... Visual and performing arts are important creative activities that help visitors perceive, question, and understand an artist's message... The Gardens library collection is next to the main lobby of the Visitor Center & Conservatory and holds titles relevant to the stewardship of and education of the public about the plants, landscapes, ecosystems and environmental issues relevant to the Gardens...
