July is a great time to visit the spectacular Gateway Garden of New World Plants at the Botanical Gardens. Stroll through the garden and take in the breathtaking variety, design and bright colors of this July highlight.

  • Things with Wings
    All invited to this free family festival to learn about and celebrate our winged friends. Featuring:

    1- 4 pm: Fairy and dragon hunt throughout the garden; kite flying on the commons; Leslie Science Center with live birds of prey; Washtenaw Audubon Society with information about Safe Passage; Ann Arbor Backyard Beekeepers and UM Bees with a sample hive and honey samples; Monarch Watch with information about migration, milkweed, live butterflies for kids to meet and activities about monarchs; face painting sponsored by Elephant Ears; and milkweed information station and free plants to take home.


    2 pm: Mister Laurence and His Play Money Band

    Admission to all events is free. Sponsored by U-M Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum; Ann Arbor Backyard Beekeepers; Elephant Ears; Leslie Science Center; Monarch Watch; Washtenaw Audubon Society.
